MP3 players dying

Specs: Windows Vista64, intel 2.66 ghz 2 gb
I bought a brandnew mp3 player. Within a week it was dead - after unplugging it from my PC's usb port. Few months later (today) I bought another mp3 player....put some songs on it, change things around, unplugging it - dead mp3 player again.

I did not unplug while files were being transferred. I wated until it was ok to remove it. I have 3 other USB devies constantly plugged in working perfectly (mouse, keyboard, headset).

Is my usb port somehow frying my mp3 players? I"m confused since my other usb devices work fine but 2 times in a row, with in a few days of owning a brand new mp3 player.

Really bad luck? Any ideas?

Could be faulty mp3 players if they are the same make and model. Could be they aren't fully charged. Did you try swapping usb ports or are you using the same port both times? Did you use Safely Remove Hardware or did you just unplug them? In the future, you could add a USB card to your machine for xtra ports, or you can get a powered USB portable device. It's possible that you PSU is underpowered for all those devices.
