I downloaded 2 different software to convert mp3 to wma. 1 of them converts mp3s only (WMA convert all) the other converts any file to any format (all to wma). WMA convert all - converts the mp3 to a file size of less the 2 MB and it plays fine on my computer and when I download to my MP3 player, it doesn't play. When I use All to WMA it converts it wma to a bigger file size then MP3!!! But when I download those WMA to my MP3 player it works! I don't get this, why won't it play the converted mus from WMA Convert All?? Also my MP3 is supposed to have 128 MB of memory but the music management software for the MP3 player tells me the total memory is 123.74 (and this is with the MP3 totally empty) - I'm sure must be a reason for this 7 MB is quiet a bit of memory I'm loosing out on. This is an RCA RD1070, if that helps. The store I purchased the player from and RCA are both useless in helping me out with my problem. Can anybody please help. If you can possibly email me at oceania26@netzero.com because once the message comes too far down on the list people don't read the messages anymore! thanks a lot

For you only getting 123MB , thats because of formatting. It might seem wierd, but That type of memory has to be formatted also. To convert mustic files, a program uses a seperate program called an encoder. Each of those programs probobly uses a different encoder. Different encoders will output different file sizes and some are just better than others. That one that outputs smaller files probobly doesnt have as high a compatability.
Are the bit rates that same on both programs (128Bit for example) check your settings because the lower the bitrate, the smaller the file, but less sound quality. Your MP3 player may only accept one bitrate and one of those programs encodes at that bitrate, and the other must not.

Thanks for your response. I put the bitrate lower and it works now. However, the one with the bigger file size has poorer music quality, I know it's supposed to be vice versa. Do you know what the best bitrate to use for best quality and small file size?
