Hi all, first of all, im not sure im posting in the right place so apologies in advance. well, the thing is, when i try to play video clips or movie files (with avi extensions) on my laptop, they play for a while but then i get a blue screen/abnormal termination error. I first thought this was a software problem so i got all the codecs (nimo codec pack/DIVX player). But the Problem remained! so i updated Windows, and all my hardware drivers. but alas no luck! My Specs are: Sharp PC-GP10-CH Laptop Windows XP 1.2GHz AMD Athlon 512MB RAM Matsh*ta DVD/CD-R Combo S3 Twister K + Hotkey Graphics Card AC97 Onboard Sound

Did you get these files from a P2P server or some other unkown place like that? They could simply be bad files.
Have you tried playing them in other programs?

they were from p2p, but they work on my desktop and other peoples laptops so i dont think they're bad files -they only differences were the hardware an os (i use win 98). Ive tried them in windows media player, divx player and windvd.
