I've browsed the help forums here for the past couple days and have found no solutions that have worked.
I have a USB Wheel Mouse Optical plugged in to a laptop with the most current Synaptics touchpad drivers installed. I also have the most current Intellipoint drivers installed. Left, right, and middle click buttons work, however the wheel scroll will not work.
I have tried most everything I could search for including uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, ensuring registry value for wheel scroll is set to >0, and installing a different mouse driver, but wheel scroll still will not work.
My Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical device in the device manager has no "advanced settings" tab where I can force it to assume a wheel, however the Synaptics PS/2 Port Pointing Device touchpad has an advanced setting that is already set to assume a wheel mouse.
I have also tried disabling the touchpad in the Bios, but has not affected the wheelmouse scroll.
It's painful not being able to use a wheel scroll. Please help!

Maybe it's busted. Does the scroll function work when you use the mouse on another computer?
Help me Jebus!

I feel embarrassed saying this but I was so sure that the mouse was new that I didn't bother checking a different mouse. It was the mouse, not the computer.
