Ok, I have an hp laptop and just the other day I put a music cd in the dvd drive and it locked up for a few seconds, then the mouse cursor just wandered straight up. I can move the mouse, but as soon as I stop moving the mouse the cursor goes straight up, so I can't even click on anything. The mouse pad does the exact same thing. I've used the restore system to go back a bit, it didn't work, went into safe mode the cursor does the same thing. I've deleted the drivers, still nothing. Anybody have any help?
Please!!
btw, I'm using my desktop to type this message.
Thanks

dude its a pretty s---ty problem nonetheless a simple one i guess.
it could most probably be a video card problem(not a serious one).
I see u use vista.
it could be an internal problem with vista not being able to buffer the card properly. REBOOT if it does not work and is the same everytime you might need to reinstall windows!!
OR it could even be a hard disk problem (unlikely).

Hello and thanks for the answer. Having contacted HP they had me delete the driver and download from their website along with a bios update and that fixed it. If anyone else has a problem with their mouse, this is how I fixed it.

Thanks
