Hi there,

I am facing a problem with my mouse. My mouse works when i start my computer, but within a min it stops working. Then I need to goto Control Panel>system>Remove my mouse(HID complinant mouse) and then refresh. It detects mouse. again works for 5 min or so and then again same problem. I am using a Optical mouse on USB Card(Opti82c861 PCI to USB open host controller). I tried reinstalling the card. But of no use. Please Help.

Regards,

Amit

If it is a corded mouse and it is not new, it is common for wires to break inside the cord, usually right where the cord enters the mouse - at first the insulation on the wire holds the broken ends together at least part of the time, and the mouse will tend to work intermittantly - later the insulation breaks and the mouse, or at least some function of it, will not work.
If that is the case, the mouse will do the same thing connected to another computer, if used for long enough, or another USB corded or wireless mouse will work fine on your computer.

If it is a wireless mouse, or if it is corded and works fine for a long period on another computer, sometimes another USB connected device will conflict with a USB connected mouse, and the mouse will stop working intermittantly - do you have other uSB connected devices?
