Laptop Acer Aspire - Mouse pad, Keyboard & USB stopped working. can put in a a PCMCIA USB card and attach a keyboard and mouse and works fine, but kind of defeats the object of the laptop, all help will be much appreciated.

The link below indicates a long standing issue with Acer Aspire 5100. Seems to be a Motherboard issue that Acer has not resolved. If your Laptop is still under warranty contact Acer immediately.

Try hitting FN-F7 to see if the touch pad will work again. If this is a Motherboard problem the PCMCIA card you mentioned may be your only recourse unless your Acer has a PS2 port.

Many thanks my suspicions have been confirmed, and having searched for more answers since posting I now appreciate its a known fault, shame warranty is out ......... :-(
