i currently uninstalled Linux RedHat 9 from my system. i then installed Windows Xp Pro and delted all the partitions on my hard drive. after doing this i then installed XP.

When everything was set and done ....it went into the desktop as usual. however, i noticed that my mouse wouldnt move...i tried it in another USB port....to no avail.

i then tried a left over PS/2 mouse and it didnt work.

May it have been with something dealing with Linux installation?

how can i fix the problem ....either thru XP or thru the Bios.

My motherboard is the A7N8X-X W/nforce2 400 and is not defective .

thanks!! Happy Holidays!

Hi Tony.

Did you install the Windows XP driver for your mouse?

Take care,

what kind of machine, had this problem many times with HP pavilions....check in your BIOS to be sure USB ports are enabled, and also if there is a setting for PS/2 mouse, it needs to be enabled for that to work, if left on "auto" it fails to detect a mouse on the ps2 port with winxp. must be some kind of quark with those systems, I've seen it many times but only on HP pavilions. if usb is enabled those drivers should load automatically when you plug it in after windows is booted, or at minimum you whould get a "new hardware found" notification when plugging it in, if you get nothing sounds like USB may be turned off in BIOS.
