mouse freezes

many a time i start my windows both xp and 98.my mouse freezes for a while then work then freezes for a while and have beep sound,some time freezes for a long time then i need to start my windows.please reply me what the problem is.i check my mouse pin that a pin was touching the another pin then i seperate the pin and insert cable of mouse gently to pc now i am having trounle of freezing little.thanks a lot

Also download a diagnostic program from your hard drive's manufacturer and check the hard drive. Bad sectors on the drive can make windows appear to 'freeze' and act sluggishly.
