This is really getting frustrating. I had this happen on an older computer of mine that my ex wife owns, but when I move the mouse it will speradically slow down and "lag". Then when it's lagging and it's on a button it takes me moving it off the button and back on before it will register the click.
I have the Logitech MX3100 desktop with the cordless laser mouse. I have the latest 64-bit drivers from Logitech. I did a full virus scan with Avast! (the best one available compatible with WinXP 64bit ED); and I also ran a full scan with AdAware SE Pro to find and remove adware/spyware. I ran Hijack this and didn't really see anywhere in it a bad process. Although each program found something - some trojans and a couple spyware infections - the mouse is still acting up. I even reinstalled the mouse drivers.
This just started happening a day ago and it's getting on my nerves. The battery is charged (it has the charging base) and I never changed my working surface...it's the same mousepad I've used since installing the new Windows Operating System 8 months ago.
Can anyone help with this please? Is there something else I can check?
Thanks.

a system restore perhaps?
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Haven't tried a restore yet. I will look into that. For now, the mouse cursor seems ok today. I ran a virus check recommended in one of the posts here...can't remember which one now, but it was an online one. Right after I ran it it found some tracking cookies, and some other "greyware" stuff, a couple of which I recegnized to be from Adaware - after I ran it and cleaned up the things it found, the cursor was doing it's usual. I left overnight then when I got to work today, so far it seems to be running fine. Hope I don't jynx things by saying that, but so far so good.
Like I mentioned, I had another computer that did this and as far as I know, it's still doing it for my ex wife. But it's an AthlonXP 1700+, with 728mbRAM and running WinXP SP2. The maouse is a Logitech cordless optical. I was thinking it might be a Logitech thing, but never find any updates to what I am using.
Thanks for the replies, guys. This is the most I've gotten back from posting here. I really appreciate it.
I keep you posted.
