Mouse Cursor Freezing

My mouse cursor freezes EVERY time I open Outlook Express and occasionally at random other times. Invisibly it is still functional but I have to reboot to get control of the cursor again. Its a Microsoft optical (corded) that seems to work fine on other computers. I've done FSC /SCANNOW and a non formatted re-install of Xp but it still brings me to tears. Is there anything I can do short of a full Format? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dumb One

Thank you bobby I thought tat it might be spyware or a bot of some kind. I used to use Spybot and Ad-aware before using my ISP's internet protection. I hate this crap. All part of the game tho, i guess. Again thanks, I'll give it a try. Dumb One
