Dear Forum Members,

But since then i have not been able to sort out the fault and more Computers seems to be inflicted with the same problem, unable to rectify the problem, the computers end up being thrown away without knowing main cause and how to get rid of the problem in future. Please check on the PC Specifications below:

Memory Size: 128 MB DDR |333| CL 2.5

SYMPTOMS:
When the Pc is switched on, the Monitor goes on very briefly then the "MONITOR IS NOT CONNECTED" appears on the Screen nothing else appears even POST Messages. The problem seem to affect alot of computers and end up being left to rot in stores. I have been asking this question for many times and in may forums but so far i have not been able to get the solution for the fault: whether it can be rectified or not and what should we do to get rid of the fault to keep on emerging from time to time.
Please let me know if with such a fault these motherboards have any chance of being repaired or have to be thrown away.

Start with the last symptom first. You may have the case wiring connected wrong, your PSU may be defective or the MBoard may be shorting out on the case. I suggest you go back to square one.

NOTE: The case standoff are installed behind every screwhole in the Motherboard

Can you please help me sort out these problems once and for all?. Your help is greatly appreciated.

To start with, I never heard of GenX before. Googling it turns up several of your old posts in different forums & numerous non-english (arab? sites). There is a model P4M800-M made by Elitegroup/ECS...could it be the same board under a different name?

The best way to troubleshoot something like this is to strip the system down to the bare minimum. Disconnect all drives & all internal cards except video. Disconnect all external devices except monitor & keyboard. If the keyboard is USB, switch over to PS/2. Remove all RAM except for one stick & make sure the stick you use is "known to be good"...same goes for the video card.

Then unplug the power cord & use the ClearCMOS jumper to reset the BIOS. Reconnect the power & attempt to boot. If you get a display, immediately access the BIOS & reconfigure the settings.

If the above doesn't work & you're certain that both the RAM & video card are good, you've narrowed it down to the board, CPU or power supply...or possibly a short in the case. The next step would be to remove the board from the case & benchtest it.

One thing to add - if a few fans spin up, it doesn't necessarily mean the power supply is good. All it means is the PSU is putting out enough power to spin up a few fans...it may not be producing enough to fire up a system. Fans generally run on +12v, a P3 uses +5v.

If all these computer were working at one time and they are all used at the same location I would start by looking at the voltages in the building and in the BIOS screens of each computer, If they still boot. Enter the BIOS immediately at startup and look at PC health or similiar screen.
