Comment: I just bought a graphics card with tv out on it last night it's an xfx nvidia mx 4000. for some reason I can't install it because when i do and turn on the pc my monitor doesn't turn on my pc does but I don't hear any beeps or anything just the green light. I set the primary graphics adaptor to pci since i have a agp onboard card and there is no option to disable it so that is the next best thing. Do you think this has something to do with my power supply it's a 350 watt and the graphics card i want to install said i can install it on a power supply 300 watts or higher or do you think it could be something else? I was thinking maybe my power supply can't handle this ontop of everything else that is running with the 7200 rpm hard drive and the 5400 rpm cpu fan, but i dunno.

Reply: (edit)If this card is an AGP device then set the BIOS for AGP as first device. Make sure that the monitor is connected to the correct port on the add in card. If this doesn't work, connect the monitor back to the onboard port, boot to windows and attempt to configure the card from within windows. You most likely need to install drivers and may need to change your dispay type in setttings. As far as disabling the onboard graphics is concerned, there may be a jumper on the motherboard. Windows is capable of supporting multiple displays so it isn't really necassary to disable this device. The main reason to do so is to free shared memory. Once you finally get the add in card working you may want to enter the BIOS and set the shared memory as low as you can. If this card is new you should read the instructions for installation. Most times you should install the drivers prior to actually installing the card. Check it out.

Reply: (edit)I can't even get into windows or start my pc for that matter while the other card is in there. The onboard card is agp the new card is pci. When I put the pci card in the pc, it suddenly doesn't do anything. Even if I leave it in there and put my monitor back on the agp onboard card the pc still doesn't do anything. I can't boot up to anything The power is on but there is no process at all. It's only when I take out the pci card that is when my pc boots up normally. I got the lastest BIOS update and still nothing. Does anyone else think the power supply could be causing this? I have tried everything under the sun now i know if you hear bios beeps something isn't set in right like the card but i'm not hearing anything.
