hey guys!.Im searching for a cpu,and motherboard for my kids that they can use to surf the web, homework, play games, burn cds, high virus, spyware, bug infestation,LOL!!I allready have a case/psu, 2 ram modules 256x2=512 pc3200,hdd,video card, sound, nic, dvd.some older stuff i have in the house. But i need a cpu,and motherboard that can suit what im looking for,but this is a kids pc so i dont need to spend my life savings.New or used is fine with me.I need something that i can also upgrade a bit so if the little fartknockers need a little more speed then i have that option.Something thats cheap, and overclockable woulndt be bad either so dad can fool around with the kids pc.LOL!!Ive looked at some 754 mothrboards, and sempron cpu`s,but those motherboards dont have much room for improvement. What would you guys buy for best speed for money?

The Sempron64/S754 system doesn't offer an awful lot in terms of upgradeability, but you can't argue with the price...plus it's still compatible with the old standard 20-pin ATX PSU.

How's this for $90?

The board sells for $50+

The retail CPU sells for $100, but the one with the combo is a "tray" CPU (bare CPU w/o HSF)

Retail Sempron 64 2800+ Palermo (754) w/ BIOSTAR TForce6100 Socket 754, altogether @ $144.75. I know you have upgrade path in mind, truth is, this is primarily for your kids.

Even if you go with the 939 platform, odds are, by the time your kids are ready for an upgrade you most likely will have to buy a newer board anyway.

BTW, there is no AGP slot on that board.
