Alright, I have an Intel mainboard that came without additional hookups for front USB jacks. It, however, has the places on the board for where the jacks should go (for silver circular marks). Can I solder the wires onto the board, or is there another way to attach the 6 in one card reader i just bought?

Hi brian

If the board has no additional usb connection points, it will not handle any more thatn what you already have.

If you have any rear usb ports ( other than those on the actual motherboard itself ) you may want to remove one of those connecttors and connect the front usb's.

Failing that you can buy an additional usb pci card and use that. I would strongly recomend you leave the SOLDERING IRON in its place.

Most Mother boards theese days have additional connectors on the board for connectoing smart card readers, etc. I presume you dont have any such connection.

If so the PCI card is the easiest and safest way to go.

Janos

Or, just get a USB hub. Safe, easy, and it would be the same is if the motherboard had extra ones.
