I pulled the Motherboard out of the case, hooked up the 20 pin and the 4 pin, do I need to hook up the power button or how do I fire it up???

I took the MB & PS out of the case, hooked up the front cables (power led, HD led, reset sw.) PS tested Ok, but nothing happens when I push the power button..

To check for MB shorting.... I had a problem, with this PC, some times, it would start and most of the time it wouldn't and when it did start I had a continous beep and it never booted. PS test Ok with a plug in tester. Moved the memory from slot to slot with both dimms, then one dimm and nothing helped. So I was testing for MB shorting, but now that it wouldn't start... I don't have a clue... Unless it's the MB.

Plug testers don't confirm amperage.

You don't need the case switches, LEDs, etc connected. Short the pins with a screwdriver as was recommended. Continuous beeping usually is related to RAM or the video card.
