how may i resolve a motherboard resources conflict if the hardware troubleshooter will not start??

The answer is maybe. The troubleshooter isn't necessary. Look at the Resources tab and see if it allows you to change the settings or if they're grayed out. If not you can try alternate settings (uncheck "use automatic settings"). Otherwise you'll need to enter the BIOS Setup and reserve IRQs. One thing you can try first is removing the conflicting devices in Device Manager, reboot and see if Windows reconfigures them correctly this time. Or if that doesn't work, open up the case and swap the PCI cards around in different slots (remove these devices first in Device Manager), then turn the pc on. I'd do a little homework first using tyhe "Site Search" on the left for "resource conflicts". These can be tricky to get rid of.
