Hi

I think i need to replace my motherboard but am not sure what I should buy. I looked on my current motherboard's website to see the type and they say it is a "slot 1" motherboard (it's a Mircostar 6119 Ver:1.1). I dont want to replace any other hardware. just a straight swap of one motherboard with another. My current processor is a P2. I have 3 Ram slots (which are full) 3 PCI (the big ones. one is used) 4 smaller white slots (not used) and one other (graphics I think,. monitor goes into it)

Any suggestions??

Given that you have a rather old (and actually, obsolete) setup, what is the reason why you think that you have to replace your motherboard?

Yeah, why do you need to replace the motherboard?

And if you really need a new board you should probably upgrade the processor, I mean come on, 450MHZ how are you even using that thing?

You could get a good P4 motherboard and a 1.8Ghz P4 chip for about $170 from newegg.com

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=AV49N

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?catalog=343&DEPA=1&submit=property&mfrcode=0&propertycode=&propertycodevalue=4186,4425

But you would also need a p4 ready power supply so maybe this getting to expensive for you.
I guess you could go to ebay and try to find somthing there.

I Need to replace the motherboard cos the CMOS battery was removed and all bios settings dont work anymore. I can't detect (manually or automatically) the HD's. Default Bios settings dont work. cable's and HD work on other computer. As the computer is only used for work stuff I have no need to upgrade (I have my current PC also). But I do need to get it running again. Do they still sell Slot 1 Motherboards??
