Hi,

I just have a question on Motherboard Monitor temperatures. When my system is more or less idle I have the following temps:

Case: 87F
CPU: 116F

Are these normal?

Thanks for any help!

Not unusual for an AMD chip. That CPU temp is about 46degC which is well under maximum tolerance. What are the temps like under heavy load? That is the more important question. Does your system have variable speed fan? Any extra casefans for improved airflow?

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Yes, 116F is nothing to worry about. I once ran an AMD Duron at 130F continuously for over a year with no ill effect.

It was running at 100% doing one of those grid computing projects. It did have an effect on my electricity bill though.

How is your CPU running?

My Athlon 1.4GHz has been running at 52-55C (126-131F) every day for about 2 years and it seems to be running fine.

Do you guys use Prime95 or what to check how the CPU handles hard work?

Should I run that program? I'm afraid it breaks something :).
