Hi,
i have all ways had gigabyte motherboards, but want to try another make, can anyone recommend a good manufacturer, for quality, compatability and support etc. i have a budget of about £200 for a motherboard. i'm not after any specific models just manufacturer suggestions. thanks.

I've built a ton of systems around Asus boards and haven't had any trouble with them. Couldn't say that about the other guys--even Gigabyte!
Yep, Asus makes a quality motherboard, I tell you what. :P

If you read the Asus forums, for what they're worth, not all of the Asus boards are that great, and Asus seems to be slipping somewhat. That being said, I have the P5K(P 35 chipset) in one of my computers, and it's working well. Of course there are boards now with newer chipsets-I would recommend reading some reviews, like on newegg.com. EVGA makes some very good boards, and I think they have better customer sevice.
Summary: Well, we generally do that by identifying the motherboard...or, if built by Dell, HP, Compaq etc. we use the exact model number of the machine. We then go to the motherboard manufacturer or system man...
