motherboard install prob

I have been given a new 1st main motherboard. I have fitted it onto my system. The bios works but it wont recognise WinXp that was previously installed on my hard drive. Will i have to reinstall Win XP or Win 98. IS there a way round this problem.

In the BIOS there's an option call "Plug and Play OS" enable that, it should do the job, but however I would strongely recommend you reinstall XP. Just to be saft...

Your going to have to reinstall XP. It has a search on the specific SIM that is located within the hardwiring of your motherboard chipset. If it doesn't see that same signature then it will error out and BSOD everytime. Sorry... there's no way around it right now.
Well unless...
You put the old board back in Start the system. Run sys-prep Put the new board in And let the system run.
