Have got a problem with my computer, possibly the motherboard. Has AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ (2600MHz) and 2048MB Ram so it isnt not enough power.
(ASROCK ALiveNF6G-VSTA, Nforce 405? chipset)

The network connection keeps dropping its connection, so cant use internet until i have restarted (not router because it still shows connected). The sound keeps sticking (does a growling sound). the mouse and keyboard keep freezing as i am typing (it freezes for a few seconds, then the system beep sounds, then it unlocks). The system will not install any chipset updates. When the welcome screen shows and i click on my user, the screen shows "WELCOME Hoppo, Loading your personal settings" and then freezes and wont do anything at all.
The USB does not always start up and the system has had 3 card readers in it in a year, all gone faulty.

i have used another system with same cpu, ram size and motherboard, and it is useable within 5 seconds from a cold startup whereas mine takes several minutes.

All haelp appreciated

That doesn't mean that it's a hardware problem. What happens if you click on another user instead of Hoppo? Try to open the run box and run compmgmt.msc Go to local users and groups, users and set the administrator password. Then get rid of the welcome screen and set all users to login with password. That way you can see if it's actually just a corrupt profile or another software problem.

Have you run a virus\spam\trojan scan on the PC, are your scanners up to date??.

What happens if you boot the PC into Safe Mode, Press F8 key just as the bios screen finishes and before the XP logo appears, Your icons will look large and oversized but does the PC run smoothly.

When you boot the PC up normally right click on the task bar and select task manager, and then select the "Performance" tab, how much cpu are you using (it will tell you as a %).

If you have a linux live cd try booting your PC from that (you will need to ensure that your PC can boot from a cd, it won't install anything it runs from the cd), if your PC then seems to run normally, then the problem is likely to be a problem with your windows installation.

Freezing happens to all users that i click on on welcome screen, when i press CTRL-ALT-DEL and type username in, it still freezes.
In Normal Mode, The CPU is usually running at 1-2 when Idle, and No more than 15% when using normally, only rises above that when i am running several programs at once. i have got elixir memory in the system, which i am told is rubbish, the other system that i commented on was using Kingston memory#
I am using WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL SP2,
