Comment:

A few weeks ago the ps/2 mouse port stopped working. I've tried 3 different mice in it and none of them are recognised by windows. There is nothing in the event viewer either. Now i can only occasionally get into the bios, and when in it the keyboard does not work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

First make sure you hav'nt switched the keyboard and the mouse the wrong way, and mabye try and disconnect the mouse before using bios and see if the keyboard works then.

If you have flash bios try and update it, it might be corrupted.

I've tried all of those before coming here and no change. I also tried a couple of different keyboards and changing the battery, but nothing.

Maybe time to get a new board..........you haven't had any problems with power lately have you? Wierd stuff like this is usualy tracked back to surges, brownouts and such. At least that has been my experience.
