Motherboard does not recognize power

Dell Inspiron laptop with intel pentium...

Specs: Windows XP
Motherboard will not recogize that charger is plugged in. Tried plugging and unplugging, nothing seems to help.

Sounds like either the power adapter is toasted or the MB has issues. If it is newer, get it repaired/replaced under warranty. If it is out of warranty, start with a new power adapter. if that does not fix the issue, time for a new laptop.

Check the connector that the adapter plugs into. Gently try to wiggle it. If it feels loose, it has probably broken loose from the motherboard. Usually only requires re-soldering.
