Hii
I use a PIII which runs on a SIS 620E socket motherboard. The PC is about 5 yrs old. Lately there was a problem with the connecter on the motherboard which connects the KEY BOARD. It was shaking. So I changed the BIOS setting to avoid detection of KEYBOARD at the startup so that the OS could load even without a KEYBOARD connection. Sometime back, the CONNECTOR completely broke but I was still able to use my PC cause I had changed the settings. I was too lazy to repair the connector so I bought myself a USB keyboard from "IBall".
Now b4 switching the PC "ON" I connected the USB keyboard to the socket, after which I got the command that "CMOS scan bus problem,
KEYBOARD not detected".
I am not able to access the PC now. Something has changed the entire setting of the CMOS. I showed it to the venderor & even he is unable to figure out the problem.
I need to get this thing fixed urgently.
PLS PLS PLS HELP !!!!!!!

Always Keep Smiling

Just a quick question, was it the connector on the motherboard (the port for the keyboard) or the plug on the end of the keyboard? USB keyboards are iffy at best (In my opinion), if the physical keyboard port on the motherboard broke off then I fear the only real solution would be to replace the board. (If the port broke off, what kind of mouse are you using? USB, serial? - Usually the mouse and keyboard ports are together.)

If you're using a usb keyboard, make sure you have usb legacy support enabled in the bios.

Heres the question- How are you going to do response 2 if you can't use the keyboard?

Typically, a bios has an option for "stop on all errors." Sometimes this can be reset to "stop on NO errors" by clearing the CMOS data. There is a jumper on the board for that, or you can pop out the cmos battery and put it back in. It might even recognize the USB keyboard in the bios.

I use a USB optical mouse. The motherboard is a SIS 620 E socket motherboard. The vendor said he has fixed the problem & the PC will run on a USB keyboard only & not the regular one. He is charging me quite a bit for it. Do u think he is taking me for a ride ????
