My PC died Sunday evening. The diagnostic leds (all four red at power up) on the back suggested that the CPU died. I removed all peripheral devices and sound card. Still the same. Checked the PSU, even replaced with a spare.
As I had only bought the bits in July, the store exchanged the CPU for me on the evidence of the diagnostic lights. However, when the new CPU was fitted, I still had the same fault. So out with the mobo. I did this with the CPU still fitted and look at the pic and see what I found. This MSI 865PE Neo mobo has the long side of the heatsink cradle parallel to the side of the board, causing the undue stress resulting with the board bowing as shown. Even fixed in the case, the stress is still there. I notice that on the Neo 2 boards they have changed the orientation, so that problem doesn't exist. It does give cause for concern though that the P4 heatsink assembly presses down on the CPU with such force as to distort the motherboard with possible damage resulting as in the case of mine.
I replaced my mobo with an ABIT IS7-E which has the CPU oriented the same way as MSI's Neo-2 boards.

Well the pic shows when I press the button to submit the post, but after that it's gone.
I've searched and can't find any help on posting pics
