Comment: Hi there if you haven't read my last post here is the run down... On start up my cpu is being picked up as athlon 1150MHz. If I run amdcpuid I get the same figure (1150). I then change the bios clock settings from 100MHz to 133MHz and then on startup I get the correct CPU info (Athlon XP 1800+) but then Windows s---s itself in huge way!!!! If I set it back to 100MHz everything is fine???? Does anyone have any ideas please!!!!!

Reply: (edit)Sounds like flakey RAM or a power supply without enough power on the 3.3VDC rails to power the CPU at it's full rated speed. Download and run memtest86 on the memory or try another module.

Reply: (edit)I have just read about your problem I have a PCCHIPS 841 LMR Motherboard and AMD ATHLON 1600, and I have the same problem. And what makes me more worried is that a friend bought the same motherboard, and he has the same problem. Also we both use DDR2100 SDRAM. I know it’s a motherboard problem because I sent the CPU back to ebuyer and they said it was ok. My settings are correct for the AMD 1600 CPU, but it still changes back to 1150mhz. I will just have to get on to ebuyer.com and ask for a replacement motherboard, not pcchips 841lmr. Sorry I can't help you, but I just had to tell you that it must be a design fault with this motherboard
