Specs: Windows XP Pro SP3, Pentium 4 HT, 3.00 GHz-x64-1 Gb. DDR-400
Ok, so today when I powered on the computer, there were 2 long beeps. Then through the process of resuming from hibernation, there were 4 short beeps about every 10 seconds.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8I915PL-G rev. 2.x with bios F4.

PS, I looked it up online and it said a memory error, but memtest displayed no errors when I last ran it. I am re-running it now.

Pentium 4s - The processors for the rest of us.

Hibernation & Standby are power saving features that were designed for laptops & other mobile devices. They sometimes cause problems when used on desktop's better not to use them. Disable both hibernate & standby, then adjust the screensaver settings & power option settings instead.

Award doesn't list anything for 2 long beeps or 4 short beeps but here's what's listed in the Gigabyte manual:

"AWARD BIOS Beep Codes

1 short: System boots successfully
2 short: CMOS setting error
1 long 1 short: DRAM or M/B error
1 long 2 short: Monitor or display card error
1 long 3 short: Keyboard error
1 long 9 short: BIOS ROM error
Continuous long beeps: DRAM error
Continuous short beeps: Power error"
