Monitor/w speakers low sound!!!help

I have a Compaq 1425 15" monitor with the speakers attached to the sides. Normally i can control the volume on the monitor, however, I do not have a Compaq computer and does not work. All my levels are set high, however the speakers are barely audible. Is there any program to download or anything to fix this?????PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!thanks for any help at all

It seems like your problem is probably due to your sound card not dupplying enough power. as you probably have noticed compaq speakers don't have a power adapter, this is due to the fact that compaq sound cards output a much stronger signal, specifically for non powered speakers, while regular sound cards output a much weaker signal designed for powered speakers.

so in other words buy a new speaker system, something that has an extrenal power supply, this should fix your problem

Well I was hoping to use these speakers. Obviously these were meant to use with a Compaq computer, which I dont have. So really there is nothing I can do then?

The other option would be to buy a new sound card with speaker (amplified) output.
