monitors not working

Specs: Windows xp and kubuntu 8.1
Hello everyone! This is the first time i've ever posted here; ususally i can solve my own computer issues. I'm stumped this time though.

I moved about a week ago. I didn't have internet at my house, and i had no place to put my pcs, so I left them off and unplugged, boxed away.

I got them out today, hooked them up, and neither computer is communicating with its monitor. The monitors seem to work fine (the report no signal) and I've tried a couple different cords. The computers look like they're booting fine too. I've got xp on one computer, with an nvidia card and a dvi output, and an old kubuntu 8.1 maching running off internal graphics with vga. I'm at a loss as to why they wont work. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Well it sounds like they're booting up just fine. And to have
two pcs go in exactly the same way after a little move? I
doubt that would happen. I'm using the onboard graphics on
my Linux machine, and tried plugging a monitor into the
onboard slot on my windows machine, but no luck.

Don't connect monitors that are not to room temperature. If CRTs they will take a long time to warm up. I am guessing they were stored in an unheated area.
