I have a computer that i am trying to fix and well i fixed the problems but now it has a new problem whenever I try to start up the computer the monitor light always flashes or stays orange (standby mode). I tried new graphic cards and monitors and nothing seems to work. what could be wrong?

It sounds like you killed the system. Can you reverse whatever changes you made? Check to make sure you haven't installed a signal cable upside down or installed Master/Slave jumpers wrong.

And are there any lights burning?.. or is it giving any beep codes?
And are the fans well spinning?
It it doesnt make any beeps its the PSU or the CPU.. or your mobo's just dead.

Yeah all the fans work the Hardrive flicks on and it starts up. Im pretty sure it does a memory check as well not sure tho. I added a LG Burner. and upgraded it to a 633 celeron. The mobo LED is lighting up as well

Hi all, got a similar problem...
I left my computer downloading stuff while I went away over the weekend which is usually no problem, but when I came back it had crashed so badly that I had to turn it off at the socket. When I tried to restart it, nothing. I figured it was probably the PSU and so I have replaced that, and now it fires up nicely except for one problem - the monitor appears permanently on standby.
I can switch it off or back onto standby but it appears as if there is no signal at all reaching it from the computer. I have changed both the monitor and the graphics card, but neither made any difference. There are no bleeps upon switching the computer on which would at least suggest errors - help!

i have a computer in the same situation. it's a 486/33 that a friend gave me for fun i tried to connect it to my samsung monitor 19" but it stays on standby too. what do u guys mean by "killed the system" ? did u do that too?
