okay heres my problem. when i started up my computer one day the monitor didnt display anything. it was just black screen that looked like it was turned off. i un pluged the monitor and used it on my old pc and it worked fine. the monitor receives a signal from the pc because if it didnt it would just have that self- test thing jumping up and down.
i have a chaintech motherboard the zenith ve VNF4/ultra with a GeForce 6800Ultra graphics card from ASUS.

Not necessarily true. On my monitor is displays a message "No Cable Connected" when the cable is removed. Simply plugging the cable into the video card with the computer turned off is enough to get rid of it.
The monitor is recognising that it is plugged into something, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is working correctly. I would check your video card. Try re-seating it and if that fails, try an old video card if you have one available.

It is truly amazing the number of people who post here with the subject "Monitor Problem" or "Monitor not working" when in 99.9% of cases there is nothing wrong with the monitor. The problem is almost certainly either graphics card or motherboard related. Occasionally LCD screens that have a separate 12V powersupply experience powersupply failure. If re-seating the graphics card or trying a replacement doesn't work then you will need to look at other components including motherboard, CPU, RAM, or PC Powersupply.

Thanks for all the helps guys but i cant seem to fix the problem... i guess i will have to PAY someone to look at it. thanks again!
