Hello. I just recently bought a new computer from somebody and did a full reformat. Everything is great, games look awesome, the computer is fast and i got a great deal on it. The only problem i have with it is this: Every time the computer goes to sleep (or is it standby? yellow light on the power key) My monitor goes to sleep too i guess. Then whenever i turn on my cpu back on (green light), my monitor won't turn on. I try turning it off and on, playing with monitor keys, nothing works. Now normally this wouldnt be a proble, as i would just turn off sleep mode option in desktop settings but i have a quick sleep mode key on the top left hand corner of my keyboard which i accidentally press instead of the Esc key. Had to manually reboot computer twice from Medieval 2 TW. Can someone tell me either how to disable the quick key or get my monitor working properly. Oh and the keyboard settings under control panel only have options for 5 quick keys beside my sleep mode button. My monitor is a Gateway HD LCD 21 inch widescreen 1680 x 1050 with pivot control and dvi input if that helps anyone.

Why did you do a complete format/reinstall? Don't use standby or hibernate on a desktop system, they're designed for use with laptops. I'm not a fan of sleep mode either. I would just disable them all & make adjustments to the power scheme.

Ahh i figured it out. something called away mode in power settings. now the button wont "away" my computer. I did a reformat because the guy i bought the pc from used it for about a year and i just wanted a clean slate. there was nothing in harddrive that i needed anyway.
