I have dual monitors using two display adpaters on XP Pro: 1) Nvidia GeForce2 128 MB and 2) Intel onboard 4 MB 810E graphics. My LCD is on the Nvidia and the Intel has on it a Gateway EV700. The dual monitor setup works with the exception that the EV700 DOES NOT DISPLAY GREEN making the display forever purple-red. The LCD is fine on both adapters, and the EV700 is green-less on both display adapters. In the intel color properties (where I want it to be) I crank the green contrast/brightness/gamma to no avail.
I have updated the intel display adapter, the monitor adapter, and the nvidia adapter. HP and Gateway sites have nothing I can find. And to add insult to injury: I plugged this EV700 into a Gateway 2.2 GHz with XP Home and it WORKED GREAT (having all the colors). I am now in need of advice or solutions as I have exhausted what I know. I would be greatly appreciate ANY advice on this matter.

See, that's what you get for giving humans fire. The
gods have made it so your monitor cannot see green.
Worse than a mountain, eh?Does the GeForce 2 have dual monitor inputs? If it
does, can you put the LCD on the DVI and the CRT
on the VGA without problems? Also, are any of the pins on the CRT bent? I know it
worked on the other computer, but ~just~ to be
certain.Oh, and while you're trying things out, does the LCD
on the GeForce and a different CRT on the Intel
produce the same error?----paxcirc.a-

Hi,
It is your monitor, the green color board or gun died. I know because I have a backup monitor with the exact same problem and 2 computers. So your only solutions are to either have the monitor repaired or replace it.

haha - nice mythology tie-in. ANd yes I seem to be punished. My GeForce2 does not have dual inputs, just one. I am just using the function of XP Pro to select which display adapter is used as primary display and extended desktop. The CRT pins check out fine. As of now I don't have other monitors to check to see if the error is the same, but I'm definately doing that when I get a hold of any - good call. I am about to check it out in linux to try to see if its a windows thing.zad01- I don't think the green is dead as the monitor has all the colors working on the other system.

Additional... the monitor's Self-Test (when no video is running to it) has
Red, blue, and GREEN.Prometheus

Read again, the monitor works fine, with green, on
another computer. No gun has gone out.Again, I'd check the CRT's pins and make sure one
isn't out of whack. I have an old CRT that has a bad
pin, and it loses all magenta if not aligned correctly. If it's not the pins, find another monitor and try it
out. That way, you'll at least know if it's a monitor
issue or another issue.----paxcirc.a-

Just tried it out on Lindows 3.0 and no green, so that at least rules out a Windows issue. The pins still look normal though a mis-alignment may still be beyond my sight. I'll post back when I get my hands on another monitor.

paxcirc.a = genius
That pin theory held up to something else... the electrical plug. After you said that it instilled the idea of plugs and behold! It now works. Looks like my surge protector has an issue with one of its plugs.. plugged the monitor directly to the wall and its all good. Thanks for the mental "jump" paxcirc.a!
