Product: e Machine 6805
Comment:

The monitor(whether external or the LCD) has suddenly started to turn off. The rest of the computer seems to be operating as usual. I have the hibernation settings, etc., off. When I try to test the CPU or videocard the system crashes. Just before the monitor turns off there is an audible click. The problem first seemed to arise if there was a number of programs operating. Now, it occurs anytime.

There seems to be no way of getting the monitor to start again except to turn the machine off and start all over again.

Any ideas?

I installed the newer drivers for the 9600 card and the newer BIOS and things seemed to get worse.

I do not know what "PSU" is.

A Radio Shack variable set at 18 watts. I have used it for over a year without a problem since the e Machine PSU went bad.

I never thought that maybe it was decreasing output at times and that the first thing to go off might be the monitor.

After I get off work Monday morning I will start using the replacement e Machine PSU I still have in the box at home. Perhaps that is the problem. Thanks.
