My monitor is as old as the rest of my computer and both of them have taken a beating since I bought them a couple of years ago. Lately I've been having some trouble with both, but the most annoying one is my monitor. It stays on for a long while, but when something is hit hard enough it turns off. Sometimes it even turns off without someone hitting anything, also it keeps scruntching the picture together and I have to actually hit the monitor several times before it will go back to it's orignal size. I would like to know what is wrong....and how to fix it....My computer is a HP pavilion v70s.....Thank you

Try a different monitor. You can get a nice new one for about $100 and you can get a used one for $25 or less.

I've tried to find a used 17 inch monitor and since I live in Oklahoma, I have been unlucky. Could you reccomend a website or anything I could use to find one

The problem with a website is the shipping might exceed the cost of the monitor. There isn't a huge web market for used monitors. Do a Google search.

try Newegg.com. Their shipping prices are reasonable.

with everyone changing to TFT, here in UK the local papers have loads for sale for next to nothing and friends give them to friends free just to get them out of the way.
I expect if you stood at local tip (or rubbish dump, whatever you call it in USA) you would see people disposing of them and most will work.

You don't need a new monitor. You need a new hobby.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach him to fish and his wife will never forgive you.
