There is a Vista patch for this type of thing. Also you might want to look at your power options. Look in the control panel for this and make sure you select not to turn off the monitor when it sets for 20 min. or so, and also not to turn off harddrives. The hotfix is listed below.

Make you system is update via Windows update and also if you want to go to the website listed below and install the reliability updates if the problem presist. Keep us posted.

I have the same issue with my LCD display in WinXP. I have found that shutting the power to the display off and tapping the KBoard when turning on the display again usually works. You could also do as Beginner has suggested.

Whenever you load or re-load Windows from scratch, you must load the drivers for your mboard, particularly the main chipset drivers, so that Windows has all the proper drivers for and information about your mboard, including it's ACPI support, which determiones how your Standby, Hibernate, and Re-boot work, and how devices "wake up".

If you're sure the main chipset drivers are loaded.....
Sometimes Windows doesn't support the ACPI features of your mboard properly.
1. - Check your bios Setup settings and turn off any setting that turns off your monitor after xx minutes of inactivity. If you still want the monitor to turn off after xx minutes of inactivity, you can use the Power Options settings in Control Panel to do that.
- You could also try turning off Standby or Hibernate in Power Options if they are not set to Never.
2. or - turn off any settings in the bios like that , and turn off any setting in Power in Control panel, and use a screen saver instead, preferably one that came with Windows, or the Blank one there which turns off the screen display. Third party screen savers may interfere with Defrag and some other programs that work best if there is little or no other computer activity.

it my be set to turn off monitor after 20 or so minutes. Then go into standby after 30 or so minutes. If it goes into standby you have to hit the hot key. Usually the spacebar. or it may be going into hibernation.
