My 3 year old monitor screen shrunk from it's
17" down to about 12" screen from one day to the next. All adjustments width and height are at their max. The 12" screen is nice and
clear and one could work with, but not for
long after 3 years of 17"!
Is it dead?
Al.

Have you check the device manager? Maybe the system thinks it is a smaller monitor.

Change the refresh rate. Right click on desktop, properties, settings, advanced, monitor, drop down list.

This one is extremely tricky. Did you leave your room wide open and left it unattended? Your friends are probably messing with you. Maybe somebody took it and replaced it with a smaller monitor. Check the model and serial number at the back to make sure that it is your monitor. I mean, who has the power to shrink a monitor?

Seriously, it could be the setting or the monitor itself. Right clikck on desktop, properties, setting, then adjust the screen area. To double check, go to Dos prompt, press alt Tab at the same time. See if you still have a 12 inch monitor, then post back.

try the monitor on a different PC if you can. This will tell you if the problem is in the monitor or your system. If the monitor is ok then look to VGA card. If you have onboard graphics then the mobo may be toast. A bit of experimenting should isolate the offending hardware.

Sorry fellows, ofcourse I meant the screen
size went from 17" to about 12".
Also I should have mentioned that the
monitor was hooked up to two other Computers
with the same results. So, it must be a monitor problem.
Thanks to all of you.
Al.
