Hi, I assembled a new computer and bought an LCD screen (Samsung SyncMaster 923NW. When I turn the PC on, there is nothing on the screen.
What I tried doing:
1. Check that all cables (electrical and VGA) are well connected.
2. Use another VGA cable.
3. Connect another monitor to the PC.
4. Connect my new monitor to an old PC (VGA port on the motherboard).
5. Connect my new monitor to an old PC (VGA port on the GeForce 8500GT video card).None of these helped. Even more weird, I tried my old monitor, which I use with a DVI cable, on my old computer through the VGA cable and it didn't work. After that, it refused to work even through the DVI cable! Solved that by a simple restart, so the DVI works, but I have no DVI port on my new PC or monitor to do the same.
I should add that I bought the old PC and the new one from the same company and they used the same motherboard (Gigabyte GA M61PME-S2P). So I guess my old PC has the same problem with the VGA, I was just lucky also having DVI available.
Finally, the new monitor does not display anything when I press any of its buttons. It reacts strictly to the power button, which keeps blinking its little blue power light when it's on. The only time the monitor displays anything else is when I disconnect the VGA cable from it - it then shows "Check signal cable".
Anyone has an idea what to do here?
Thanks a lot!
Dragos
