Comment: I rubbed some Windex on a small paper towel and then rubbed my Samsung SyncMaster monitor. Everything appeared fine until I noticed in the top left corner the black film that covers the monitor is beginning to be revealed. In fact, it'ls like looking through a window in that corner. I can see the screen through that spot, but it's incredibly reflective. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Reply: (edit)I always thought they put that coating on UNDER the glass in between the phosphor coating and the glass but not outside it. borelli34

Reply: (edit)Apparently that wasn't the case here. Do you think it's a defective monitor? I've had it for almost 3 years no problem.

Reply: (edit)The monitor's likely not defective. There are always warnings about not using any kind of alcohol or ammonia based cleaners on the surface because they can damage the coating.

Reply: (edit)Your windows do not have the non-reflective coating that monitors have, so there is windex for windows and monitor cleaners for monitors.
