Subject: Monitor problem
OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: 256
Model/Manufacturer: AMD Anthion
Comment:
When re-booting in the morning, I have to switch the on and off button on the monitor many times.. then it stays on all day. I have an Envision 17" flat. It's perfect in every way but this.I have checked all power sources, the main trouble seems to be my monitor on/off button. The screen will show for s second then go black.

If this is an LCD monitor which is what I assume you mean by "flat" then it could be an indication that the back-light is failing.

It could be the converter or most likely the light which is a cold cathode fluorescent tube just like the ones hanging from the ceiling. Just like those it can take a few attempts to get them started when they are getting old.
