When I start-up my computer, my monitor has streaks and lines that distort all of the images. Basically, the monitor cannot display the images on first start-up; but when I restart the computer, it displays everything normally. I thought it might have been a problem with the frame rates on the monitor, but I tried every different rate and that didn't seem to make a difference. I'll try to get a picture up soon.

Could be a video card problem. What card do you have? did you change or update drivers? Did you play with the screen resolution & refresh rates?
ASUS A7N8X-X
Athlon XP 1800+
8.5 x 200MHz
1024MB PC3200 2.5-3-3-7
Asus A9550GE/TD 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro SP1

ok ill try.. i think i did install a new driver... i have a nvidia geforce (not sure what model though)

Take a picture of desktop (Press Print Screen on your keyboard and then paste the image into Paint and save it.)
Then, when the monitor works OK view the image, if it looks OK, then the problem lies in the Monitor, if it looks with lines and stuff the problem lies in the video-card/software.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...

i tried the print screen.. heres the link
http://www.geocities.com/candlelitrunway/dont_delete/print.JPG ~ I'm hosting it off my band website.I think its a combination of the monitor and the graphics card. Though it looks pretty bad in the print screen, it looks even worse in person.

It sounds to me that the monitor is OK (to be 100% sure you could test it on another computer)
To fix your problem i would start with unnisntalling the video drivers and then installing the latest drives you can find on the mfgr's website. Also you could try some a little bit older drives because sometimes the latest drives don't work that great.
Also you could reseat the video card in it's slot, make sure it is inserted all the way and that it is not tilted or not perfectly perpendicular to the mobo.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...

i already reseated the graphics card. i'll try using the monitor on a different comp. thanks everyone
