help!!! yesterday i installed more ram in my comp and when i booted up my monitor said "this monitor is working, please check connection" could i have knocked something loose?? where should i start looking for problems inside my comp???? please help Eduardo

I would do exactly what you are thinking about....check all your connections. If that doesn't work I would remove the ram (putting the computer back into a configuration you know used to work) and then see if it works. Good Luck

If you unplugged the monitor interface cable, check the that one of the pins in the plug has not been pushed back when you re-connected. If it has, usually it can be pulled back into position with small pliers. Alternatively does your pc have a video card that you disturbed/removed and if so removing and replacing gently at 90 degrees to the mother board can help. Good luck - keep us posted.

I once tried to upgrade the RAM, back then I had a 66MHz bus (forgive me if I'm using incorrect terminology!!) and I purchased 100 MHz RAM. The chap in the shop said very confidently that it would be backward compatible. However, upon fitting the RAM the computer started to boot and gave up half way with a blank screen. Eventually I bought some 66MHz RAM from another shop and everything was fine. So I would double check to make certain you have the correct RAM for your system.
