Hi I am after a new 19" monitor and wanted to know what the difference is between TFT and LCD and which is better. I what the monitor image editing and high quality games also what else should i look out for?

No difference. TFT (Thin Film Transistor) is a type of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display).

All Laptops use TFT LCDs

Not ALL laptops use TFT. Possibly all NEW laptops use them. TFT is the same as active matrix. Look here for more info about the difference between active and passive matrix displays.
