Comment: Greetings all. I just purchased an HP w2408 and bought an PCIexpress graphics card, 256mb... It has VGA and DVI output. When DVI cable is plugged in, occasionally the screen will go dark during operation and come back a second or two later. This NEVER happens with VGA cable. What do I do? Thanks!

Reply: (edit) As a follow up...My mother board originally had on-board video...Should I have to disable the on-board video in the bios?
Also...The screen native resolution is 1900x1200 and this is the highest the card will support. Could it be the card is just pinned at max and can't support that resolution very well? Thanks!

Reply: (edit)You didn't mention installing Graphics drivers along with the PCIe card. Also, did you install the drivers for the LCD display?

Reply: (edit)Drivers for the LCD have been installed. All drivers for the display card are also installed, and device manager confirms all devices working properly. The graphics card is an EVGA 256mb card (approx 70 bucks)...Could it just be that this is a low end card trying to drive a high end monitor?

Reply: (edit)No, integrated graphics are enought to drive that monitor. Is the PCIe card a PCIe X 16 card. I am assumming that. You recieved both cables with the monitor? Does the label on the monitor type in advanced display settings have the model # and then the word digital after it? What refresh rate and color depth are you using?

Reply: (edit)Hi...All cables did ship with the Monitor. The card is an x16 card. The monitor instructions only state that preferred res is 1900x1200 at 60hz refresh rate. I am using highest (32bit?) color. I just don't understand why the VGA appears to function normally, but the DVI has this issue... Thanks!

Reply: (edit)The settings you are using are fine. Maybe a bad driver. Look for an updated driver for the graphics card. Is the card based on ATI or nvidia? I am not fully up to speed on the PCIe bus but there may be a latency setting somewhere. Look in the BIOS setting to see if there are any settings. At the very least there should be a setting for which display to use first. onboard or other. Also the amount of shared memory may be adjustable in the BIOS. One other thing to mention. I don't think there is a large difference in quality between VGA (analog) and DVI. If you can't solve the hiccup problem you may want to consider using the VGA. Be sure you are using Cleartype. That setting is under display properties> appearance> effects.

Reply: (edit)Okay I will try disabling the on-board via the bios to the extent that there may be a conflict, and changing the settings... Thanks...
