Just got a new Viewsonic 19" LCD Monitor (VP191b) today. I hooked it up, it worked great. Installed the software for the monitor so I could use higher resolutions. That turned out fine as well. Then I actually changed the res to the recommended setting (1280x1024). Again, wonderful. Then all of a sudden, the screen goes black. The green power light stayed on, and if I turn it on and off again, there's a brief flicker of light, then blackness again.

I was reading some articles about a possible video card issue (I have a 64MB GeForce 440 MX - waiting for my 128 MB Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro to be delivered :D), but if that was the issue, why would it of worked at first, then stopped working?

I tried changing the resolution back down to 1024x768, and still nothing.

Any suggestions? :)

I have had a VG 171b for over 3 years and it is the best monitor I have ever used or seen. There has to be something defective in yours.
Can you hook that to another pc to be certain?

Could be the Viewsonic LCD monitor faulty. I once had a 15" black colour Viewsonic LCD and it died out within 1 month of use (heat problem, I got colour lines after using for 5-10 minutes). warranty replaced with a silver colour and so far no problem (about 1 year).

Viewsonic monitor used to be an excellent brand....
