hi,
i was using a 19" NEC flat CRT monitor on my computer with a geforce2MX video card. everything seemed fine. then i bought a new pc and used the same monitor. this time the video card is a radeon9600pro. images still seemed fine. i just bought an LCD and im using it with my newer computer. I put the CRT back onto my old pc with the geforce2. Now when i use the old computer with the CRT, everything seems blurry. text is readable, but its still quite blurry. the monitor is only a year old, and was a pretty decent one (NEC multisync 97F). Am i just noticing it because im so used to using an LCD? is it becasue the geforce2 is too old? is the monitor dying? if its a video card problem, i'll switch it with a radeon9200 at christmas. any ideas?
thanksbrian

It is highly likely that you are only noticing the blur now becasue you have become used to the sharper image of the LCD.
It could be the the CRT monitor was slightly blured right from the start, but with having nothing to compare it with, it wasn't noticble.
It is possible to adjust the focus of the monitor. A slight tweak can work wonders. You can do it yourself, however I wouldn't reccomend that unluss you are used to working on the inside of VDUs. It requires poking around inside with the power on. Touch the wrong thing and you will know about it.
You could take it into a TV repair shop. Any half decent repair man should be able to check the focus in a few minutes.
