Can anybody help please.
Got a problem where my monitor display keeps cutting out and then coming back on again. Seems to be doing this when there a few things running and when I click on applications or files.
I have not had this problem before.
Have just had a new processor Pentium IV 3.06Ghz fitted.
Also I am using a AOC 9Klr 19" monitor that has just been replaced because it went faulty.
So a couple of things going on and have I got things set up wrong and that blew the first monitor, or is a new fault and the previous faulty monitor just coincidental.
I am operating Windows XP Pro
I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 Graphics Card.
I am running screen resolution at 1024 X 768
I have the AOC 9Klr driver for the monitor installed from AOC website.
I have the "hide modes this monitor can't display" ticked.
I am running the AOC (handbook) recommended Refresh rate at 85Hz.
I have tried it on lower refresh rates and no different.
It has given me one display of refresh rate out of range one one occasion when I shut down. The H and V rates it said it was on were way too high.
I checked on re-start and it was H:68.5Khz and V:84.9Khz.

Just do not know where to start to cure this. Fearing another blown monitor, can anybody give me a path to check for incorrect settings or ideas about what I may be doing wrong.

Is that "monitor an LCD display? If so,is it digital or analog? What went wrong with the last one? Is your monitor being identified properly in the advanced display settings?

The monitor in not LCD.
The last just started up one day and the windows welcome screen was half on and half off the screen and everything pale and distorted.
Everything is recognised in the advanced display settings, both colour management and in the monitor descriptions.

I am at a loss as to what monitor driver you downloaded from a website. I would suggest that you update the drivers for your graphics card.

Have you eliminated the video card as the problem? You haven't mentioned it.

I am not sure how to go about checking the video card to identify if it has a problem.
OtheHill. That is my next move after the one I have done tonight. What I have done tonight is to move it up to the "Hooligans Den" where it has been running on that PC without any problem whatsoever.
That PC is Pentium III 700Ghz
Running Windows XP Pro
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Same resolution 1024 x 768
Same settings exactly as it was running on my machine. So for the moment (not concluding anything yet) it would indicate that my graphics set up, card or settings is causing the problem.
The AOC Site has a download for monitor drivers which it recommends you use. I have the most up to date.
I will go look at Nvidia.com and update my graphics driver when a bit more time on the Hooligans machine elapses without it having any of the problems.
