Hi
My monitor seems to be going randomly into standby mode. I have disabled the standby option in windows and the bios of myb mother board. It first started while I was playing pop warrior within and happened everytime I went through a time portal. If I switched the monitor off and back on then everything is fine again for a while. It then started in normal windows applications as well. When I open a new internet explorer window it also goes into standby mode. Again just switching the monitor on and off fixed the problem. I replaced my Graphics card with an older one but it still happens. Do I need to get a new monitor? I unfortunately don't have another monitor to test with. Below is the specs of my machine if needed. If I leave my monitor on for long periods of time it does not go into standby. The refresh rate I set down to 60hz but it still happens.

Motherboard: Epox8k9AI
CPU: Athlon xp 2400
Ram: 2X 512mb hynix DDR400
Graphics card: Geforce FX 5700 Driver 81.87
Soundcard: Soundblaster live 24bit
Monitor: Compaq MV500

Dude..try the following *suggestions*

A)Check the monitor cable.See the pins that of the monitor that is connecting to your sytem. If there is a single bend on anyone pin you tend to get the standby mode or at times..NO signal.

B)I know this part is hard, but try formatting the system. Some drivers do conflict with each other and they tend to set their own refresh rates, power management etc.

C)Make sure the power supply that is conencting to your monitor is seated on to a separate wall power supply socket.

Take care..post your reply
