The monitor for no reason that I can think of shows up with numerous vertical coloured lines. When I re-boot it clears and will work as normal. But it again get filled with these linesand I have to re-boot. This has happened about five times.Once I clicked on a short cut to a web site, and immediately I heard a grating noise in the computer and the monitor went on the blink Is the problem with the monitor or the video card? The monitor is a View Sonic 20" LCD 2 years old My mother board is Gigabyte model 8SIMLH-P and is 5 years old. The video card is Onboard. Brand sis651. I realise that if I have to replace the video card I need to get an AGP card Is there a program I can run to check out all my hard ware Would appreciate help
No I have not done as you asked. By the way, when I first got set up a long time ago I never turned it off had it running 24/7.I never had any trouble. But then I decided to save power I shut it down after use. Since posting this message, i have not turned the computer off, and so far the monitor has been OK.
